Sisa Table

2011

The Sisa Table was constructed nearly entirely of salvaged materials from a furniture workshop. Excess and unwanted scraps of timber combine to create an elegant, cantilevered hallway table. Rather than working from strict design drawings, the table took shape in a much more flexible way. Each day’s design decisions were based on the size and shape of building materials that were salvaged on the day. Upon completion of the table, a concrete counter-weight was created and suspended from the piece using reclaimed electrical cable. As no glue was used to hold the large members in place, this weight helps balance the table as well as holds the entire piece together.
